Party with Purpose at the World's First ShiftMob on June 25! |
|

On June 25th, Cambridge Local First along with hundreds of area residents, Vice Mayor Sam Seidel and City Counselor Henrietta Davis participated in the first ShiftMob ever held anywhere on the planet at Harvest Co-op Market and Clear Conscience Café. It was a sustainable shopping spree where you could buy good stuff, support your Local Independents, and have fun!
Shift Mobs are fun and powerful ways to help promote the 10% Shift as we build strong local economies and local economic independence. The 10% Shift is a program sponsored by Cambridge Local First and many other Local First networks throughout New England. If New England folks shift 10% of our annual budget from non-local purchasing to local purchasing we can create thousands of new jobs and grow our local economy by hundreds of millions of dollars.
Events Included:
- Five different local musicians performing every hour
- Delightful local food samplings and products from local food folks inside and outside the store
- Short and inspirational presentations by the Cambridge Vice Mayor, other City Counselors, Cambridge Local First and 10% Shift leaders, and Harvest and Clear Conscience Café owners and managers.
- Opportunities to learn about the high level of sustainable business practices the Harvest Co-op Market and Clear Conscience Café are practicing as part of Cambridge’s first Sustainable Business Leader Program (SBLP).
- Contributions for food for Food for Free, a Cambridge organization that feeds the hungry and the homeless
