For 25 years ExCL has been providing creative learning materials to a rolling population of teachers and caregivers of children in need in greater Boston. Some non-profits serve populations whereby over time they can grow to stand on their own feet and become self-funding; others cannot if they are to be true to their missions. ExCL can only fulfill its mission with your help.

Extras for Creative Learning has been offering recycled materials and workshops to teachers, parents, and students since 1980.

Mission: to help children awaken their creative potential in education and play through the use of reusable, recycled, and surplus material in classrooms, after-school and summer programs, and pre-school educational settings. As a membership organization offering materials and expertise, ExCL is a resource for educators, students, program providers, and artists who are looking for ways to engage children in creative learning while making an environmental impact through recycling.

ExCL is a clearinghouse that recovers tons of materials from being burned or buried by business or industry and redistributes it for creative educational use, primarily through teachers and care providers to children in low-income, urban areas.

ExCL  provides an opportunity for corporations and businesses to contribute to their community while saving on inventory and waste costs. It offers to the learning and creative communities access to resources and materials they may otherwise not be able to afford.

Results of this exchange are: a priceless resource for members and the children they serve, reuse of more than 40 tons of materials a year and a tax benefit for companies, and individual donors.
