The Roxbury Technology Corporation Story-
A Green Business Making it in the Inner City of Boston

Beth Williams is the CEO of Roxbury Technology Corporation (RTC) located in Roxbury, Massachusetts.  RTC was founded in 1994 by Beth's father, the late Archie Williams.   In January of 2003, Beth succeeded her father as president.  Like her father, Beth is a visionary and she has led this dynamic company to a new level of business growth and maturity.  Through Beth's leadership and perseverance, RTC now does the actual remanufacturing in Jamaica Plain. RTC is 100% owned and certified as an African-American Woman owned business.

RTC is committed to providing the highest quality premium remanufactured toner cartridges and imaging supplies available for virtually every make and model of printer and fax machine. By "remanufactured", RTC means cartridges that have been recycled, re-inspected and reprocessed from an original cartridge. Because of the high level of quality and care that goes into the production of these remanufactured cartridges, you will find no difference in print quality or page yield when compared to "New" cartridges. But, by using remanufactured print and fax cartridges consumers save money and help the environment.

Archie Williams was a visionary and a pioneer. He committed his life to the economic and social development of the minority community. Archie believed in the minority community and the hidden treasures that it holds. He believed that the minority community should not look for handouts but rather handshakes. More importantly, he believed the minority community needed to help itself by becoming economically self-sustaining through the development of mutually beneficial relationships with Corporate America.

Archie's vision for Roxbury Technology Corp was one that began over 30 plus years ago when he opened his first businesses in Boston in 1968: Freedom Foods and Freedom Electronics. His goal was to make a difference while making a profit. His vision was to develop businesses that create jobs and opportunities for the untapped and under utilized talent within the minority community; to create economic development by establishing primary businesses that pumped money into the community versus taking it out; to stimulate economic change by bringing a manufacturing plant back to the community; to diversify commerce within the community; and to be a model of success for other corporations, both large and small to emulate.

Go on Tour with RBA

as we visit the sites of two New England Leaders in Socially Responsible Business:
The Longfellow Clubs and Russells Garden Center

The Longfellow Clubs and Russells Garden Center are neighboring businesses who are committed to socially responsible business practices and have worked closely together for many years.  Russells recently celebrated their 100th year of serving the community and Longfellow is in its 33rd year of improving the health of their community. These two businesses have been national leaders in the SRB and sustainable business fields. Both businesses are in Wayland on Route 20 and located less than a mile apart.

Join RBA in an up-close and personal tour of these businesses and a short presentation from the owners and other staff members.  Each presentation will give a brief history and overview of the business and present some of their best practices. This will be followed by an opportunity to ask questions.

Gary Hirshberg, CE-Yo of Stonyfield Farm Yogurt  and

Woody Tasch, Chairman and CEO of the Investors' Circle

Presented in partnership with Sustainable Step New England

Join business leaders and change agents in learning how local businesses can take the lead in creating a socially and environmentally sustainable economy. The businesses that thrive in the 21st Century will be those that have the ability to adapt and innovate in the face of a rapidly changing environment.

Leading businesses have already found ways to deliver products and return a profit while also minimizing their environmental impacts and providing positive benefits to their communities, customers, and other stakeholders. They recognize that asking the strategic question of what it takes to be 'sustainable' often leads to innovation, cost savings, improved morale, and enhanced public reputation.

The conference will have an interactive format with a mix of inspirational speakers, large group conversations, and small group discussions which will offer participants opportunities to:

Discover simple principles that can be practically applied to guide your organizational decisions to be sustainable

Learn from local business leaders who are designing businesses of the future

Engage in valuable networking opportunities with peers
